X-chromosome (girl sperm) fertilises the egg.

All eggs carry an X-chromosome. So a girl results from having 2
X-chromosomes (one from the egg and one from the sperm) and a boy is
born if they receive the Y-chromosome from their father (they also get
the X-chromosome from their mother).
In semen, approximately 50% of the sperm has an X-chromosome and 50%
has a Y-chromosome, resulting in an equal chance of having a boy or a
girl.
There are, however, several things you can do to change these odds to
favour the conception of a boy or girl if you would like to choose the
gender of your baby.

So you are probably thinking that sex determination is all up to the
father, but that is not true. It is actually the mother that has the
most control in choosing the sex of the baby. This is because the sperm
have to survive through the harsh conditions in the females
